Getting fit is never easy. You have to train regularly and keep your diet under control. When you live a busy life, it can become quite difficult to maintain a balance in what you eat. Preparing healthy meals does take quite a lot of effort. It not only takes time to actually buy the food, but on top of that you also need to know how to cook. If you aren’t that much of a foodie, you might notice at some point, that all you have been eating is the same chicken, rice and broccoli all week long. Although you’ve got those proteins and carbs calculated correctly, it does get pretty boring eating the same thing over and over again.
If you are serious about reaching your desired fitness goals, you also want to pay attention to your macros. Meaning that you will want to track the amount of protein, carbohydrates and fats that you consume on a daily basis. To do this you will most likely need to get a food scale.
Imagine if someone could just deliver awesome breakfast lunch and dinner right to your front door so you would not have to worry about the shopping and cooking? On top of that wouldn’t it be great if you knew exactly what your calorie, protein, fat and carb intake would be if you only ate the meals delivered to you? Almost sounds too good to be true doesn’t it?
Ever heard of MyFood? They have launched a meal plan that is specifically designed for people who train hard and need good and healthy nutrition to fuel their training. The meal plan is called SIXPAX and it is designed through consultation with the DFAC World Champion of 2014, Jamie Bishop. The meals are high in protein, low in GI carbohydrates & essential fats and are available in four calorie options. Of course they also taste amazing. The SIXPAX meals are great for people who track their macro intake.
So when should you macro?
It is a good idea to start calculating those macros if you are lean, but want to be leaner. Also, if you have no concept of what “enough protein” means, measuring your macros is essential. If your nutritional intake is not in balance, your body signals can also be quite off. You might find yourself craving chocolate and chips like its the only thing in the world. This is when you need to take back control. Marcoing will help you balance your diet and keep you off those crazy cravings. Also if you are on a tight deadline to get in shape, be it a competition, a wedding or a photoshoot and you need to be your fittest, calculating your macros will help you reach your goals.
